With over eight decades of experience in the steel industry in India, our group expanded its operations to Nigeria in 2011 by establishing a steel manufacturing plant in Ife. Building on this success, the management identified an opportunity to support the local packaging industry, which relied heavily on imported kraft paper for corrugated cartons.
This led to the establishment of Speciality Pulp and Paper Limited (SPPL), with commercial production commencing in 2017. SPPL manufactures high-quality Test Liner, Fluting, Kraft Liner, and White Top Test Liner, all of which are key materials for corrugated carton production and serve as import substitutes, contributing to local industry growth.

Cassava Starch Division
Our Cassava Starch Plant commenced commercial production in 2023 as part of the company’s Backward Integration Program, designed to support our group’s internal demand for high-quality starch. Our sister companies utilize starch in large quantities for the production of various grades of Kraft paper and corrugated carton boxes.
With an installed capacity of 50 TPD and a current capacity utilization of 60–65%, the plant produces both industrial and food-grade starch, which is HALAL certified.
Equipped with 22 hydrocyclones—significantly more than the standard in similar plants—our facility ensures superior purity and whiteness of starch, setting us apart in quality and consistency.
Our starch products cater to a wide range of industries, including:
- Paper manufacturing
- Soap and detergent production
- Seasoning and food processing
- Bakery (biscuits and bread)
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing
We adhere strictly to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in the production of our food-grade starch, ensuring the highest standards of quality, hygiene, and safety at every stage of the process.

Kraft Division
Kraft Test Liner – A high-strength linerboard designed for use in corrugated packaging. It provides excellent durability and stacking strength, making it ideal for heavy-duty packaging applications.
Fluting – A rigid and durable paper used as the middle layer in corrugated boards. It enhances cushioning, impact resistance, and structural integrity, ensuring better protection for packaged goods.
Kraft Substitute – A cost-effective alternative to traditional kraft paper, offering comparable strength and durability. It is widely used in packaging and industrial applications where high performance and affordability are required.
White Top Test Liner – A premium-grade liner with a white-coated surface that enhances print quality and branding. It is commonly used for high-end packaging solutions where visual appeal and strength are equally important.
